| Regional Higher Education (RHE) Regional Higher Education has begun an active campaign to publicize the availability of the Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies (BTAS) on all five Ohio University regional campuses and through Independent and Distance Learning. Approved for multi-campus delivery at the July meeting of the Ohio Board of Regents, this degree program is primarily intended for students who already have completed or are completing a two-year technical degree program from an accredited community college, regional campus, or technical college, and who wish to pursue a baccalaureate degree. The BTAS degree accepts 96 hours of associate degree credit, of which 36-45 hours must be in a technical field, and requires another 96 hours of general education and major courses that emphasize current social, political, and cultural issues, as well as communication and leadership skills. Kathy Cain, recently appointed as Director of Partnerships for the regional campuses, will be working with potential partner institutions throughout the year in order to develop clear pathways into the program. Professor Mikiko Crawford of the Ohio University Southern Campus, a member of the team that designed the degree, will coordinate program delivery and administrative practices among the campuses, and will work with Lifelong Learning to develop the degree for blended delivery at a distance. For further information about the degree. please contact Dr. Crawford at 740.533.4604 or crawford@ohio.edu.
