"New Platinum-phosphate Compounds Kill Ovarian Cancer Cells, Other Cancer Cells"

Rathindra Bose, a professor of biomedical sciences and chemistry and vice president for research at Ohio University, is lead author of  a study recently published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The study examines a new class of compounds called phosphaplatins, which can effectively kill ovarian, testicular, head and neck cancer cells with potentially less toxicity than conventional drugs.

ImPRessions, Ohio University's student-run public relations firm, is helping Bob Evans reach the youth market. The students will help it create pages on Facebook and Twitter to reach younger consumers.

"Thanksgiving: Why are more of us staying put?"

In America's currently floundering economy, more and more people are forgoing travel for the upcoming holiday. Ann Paulins, director of the School of Human and Consumer Sciences at Ohio University, is quoted weighing in on American's reluctance to travel regardless of falling gas prices.

In another media appearance, Paulins was a guest on WOSU radio in Columbus speaking about the resurgence of layaway in retail businesses Wednesday, Nov. 19.

"Kings grad wins Fulbright award"
The Western Star, Nov 19, 2008 
Kimberley Vandegrift, a Maineville resident and Ohio University graduate, is among 12 Ohio University students to be named a Fulbright scholar. Five faculty members also won, making Ohio University the seventh highest recipient of Fulbright awards in the country. Also reported in the (Mason, Ohio) Pulse-Journal.
