Dear Participants:

I would like to invite you to the 44th MACRA Regatta to be held at

Strouds Run State Park in Athens, Ohio on Saturday, May 3, 2008.

Strouds Run is one of the greatest venues in the Midwest for a

regatta.  The partially buoyed course is completely sheltered and not

affected by boat traffic while sandy beaches and green grass follow

the last 500 meters of the course.

The MACRA Regatta was founded in the spring of 1965 by the Purdue

University Crew Club to foster rowing in the Midwest.  Since the

founding of the Association, the regatta has moved throughout the

Midwest.  The membership voted to hold the 2008 regatta in Athens,

Ohio.  We are very honored with this opportunity and are working

hard to put on a fair and exciting regatta.  

This will be the ninth year that the Hocking Valley Rowing

Association and Ohio University Crew Team will sponsor MACRA.

The regatta is registered with USRowing and we have assembled a

very talented group of officials.  The park is also excited to hold the

regatta and is working diligently to make the necessary

accommodations within the park.  I can assure you that the 2008

MACRA Regatta is going to be a successful event.
