Diversity, Access and Equity

Bridges, Brian Photo

Welcome to the Office of Diversity, Access and Equity (DAE) at Ohio University! Ohio has a rich legacy of diversity on campus from John Newton Templeton as the first African American graduate in 1828, to Margaret Boyd as the first female graduate in 1873, to John R. Blackburn as the first African American member of the board of trustees in 1885, to Saki Taro Murayama as the first international student in 1896 and continuing through to today. Our goal within DAE is to build upon this legacy by infusing diversity ubiquitously throughout institutional programs, policies, practices and curricula, leading to a supportive, affirming and positive environment for all students, faculty and staff.

We define diversity in a broad sense, as dictated by demographic and cultural shifts at home and abroad, and reflected in the combination of offices and initiatives within DAE. I invite you to explore our website and to contact us with questions and feedback.

Warm regards,

Brian K. Bridges, Ph.D.
Vice Provost for Diversity, Access and Equity
